Honest Passionate & Motivated

After leaving secondary school in 2000, I studied Computing at a Taunton College. In 2002 I moved to Plymouth for 4 years so that I could study BSc Hons Computer Systems & Networks at University of Plymouth. In 2006 I graduated with a 2:1 from the 4 year “sandwich” degree.

Within days of finishing my last exam at Plymouth, I moved back to Taunton to work as a network technician at a secondary school. It was during this time that I started my first business as a sole trader, offering computer tech-support in and around Taunton.

In 2007 I became a qualified teacher and a few years later 2010 became Head of Computer Science at the secondary school.

During 2013 whilst still working as a full-time teacher I worked for several years as a volunteer offering tech support and tuition through a local charity to vulnerable people during evenings, weekends and holidays.

Over the following years, I took on a number of responsibilities at the secondary school, including being a deputy head of year, head of year, attendance officer, esafety lead and designated teacher for looked after children. I undertook training in order to support students who were at risk of harming their self. Training included ASIST, NSPCC “L2 safeguarding” & NSPCC “Keeping children safe online”.

In the 2020 school summer holidays, I started a non-profit company called  Wilstock & Stockmoor News Ltd. The non-profit “limited by guarantee” company creates and distributes a monthly community newsletter containing local articles, letters and adverts for local businesses. The newsletter was printed 1900 times in the first month but within 9 months due to popularity the print and distribution had been increased to 3500 copies. The company’s model is entirely non-profit with no one taking a salary, fee or gratuity of any kind. The non-profit company is supported by over 35 volunteers.

Also during 2020 I was appointed as a co-trustee of a local charity called Wilstockhub, a community hub for local residents currently in the design & financing stage. The project is currently raising capital and has now secured £520,000 of the £1.2 million it needs.

In 2021 I added another company to my name. Having created & managed websites for over 20 years since leaving college, Ed launched SlashDotDash which focuses on giving small businesses affordable & professional website and web-hosting.
